The Science Fiction Achievement Award, also known as the Hugo Award®, is given annually by the World Science Fiction Society® (WSFS®). The complete Hugo nomination lists for 1980-2004 are online at this site, in additional to all of the Hugo winners. I should have Worldcon program books for 1975-79, and will, eventually, do the data entry for those nomination years. I'd also like to find the nomination lists for the years 1953-1974. If anyone can copy pages out of their old program books for me, I'd really appreciate it. George Flynn, who followed Hugo voting trends for years, wrote an interesting article about it. The John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer is included with each each year's Hugo winners. Teddy Harvia has been assembling a special site of the fan Hugo nominees and winners. I've broken out the Special Committee Awards onto one page. More information about Hugos and other science fiction awards. Photos from the MagiCon Hugo Exhibit. You'll find more award photos on the '80s, '90s and '00s pages. You can access the Hugo Lists by selecting a decade to display, or by scrolling down the year list and selecting a specific year. As they are available, Hugo Nominees will be added to each year. Hugo Awards, Listed by the Decade1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s Hugo Awards, Listed by the Year
While I'm not a good copy editor, some of the errors I found in Worldcon program book Hugo lists were kind of amusing. I especially enjoyed "The Boy Who Painted Manes." (Of course, this is the pot calling the kettle black - in a hurry to send out the jacket for a Glen Cook book I edited for NESFA press, I typoed his name as "Glenn Cook.") |
